The Government considers stopping the AVE Madrid-Barcelona line during the renovation works

The Spanish Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, is considering closing the Madrid-Barcelona AVE line during renovation works for safety and other reasons. He noted that typically, renovations are done without service interruptions, leading to reliability issues. Following two accidents on the Madrid-Sevilla line, he emphasized the need for careful decision-making. The government must decide soon, as renovations on the Madrid-Calatayud line are imminent.
