Modernism arrives in Germany
The Kunsthalle in Munich hosts the first comprehensive exhibition in Germany on Catalan modernisme, featuring 160 works from 1880 to 1914. The exhibition, titled 'Barcelona moderna. De Gaudí a Picasso', showcases artists like Rusiñol, Casas, and Picasso, highlighting Barcelona's cultural significance during this period. Curators emphasize the unique identity of Catalan modernity, which blends tradition with innovation. The exhibition aims to introduce lesser-known artists to the German audience, with a focus on their contributions to art and architecture. It runs until February 21, 2024, before moving to the Barberini Museum in Potsdam.
