The pact between PP and Vox brings the right closer to total control of the Senate: the chosen formula could be decisive in 13 provinces
The right-wing parties in Spain, PP and Vox, have agreed on a strategy for the upcoming Senate elections, maximizing their chances of gaining a supermajority. Vox will not present candidates in six provinces, while PP will do the same in three, allowing them to consolidate votes. This coalition aims to secure three-fifths of the Senate seats, which would enable them to appoint four Constitutional Court judges without PSOE's consent. Recent polls suggest that this strategy could yield between 156 and 167 senators for the right, surpassing the required 161 for a supermajority. The left has also formed a coalition to counter this move, but the right's plan appears to enhance their electoral prospects significantly.
