The Supreme Court rejects suspending the vote for those benefited by the 'grandchildren's law' residing in Spain

The Supreme Court has denied the suspension of voting rights for beneficiaries of the grandparent law residing in Spain for the upcoming elections. This decision responds to a request from Iustitia Europa. Additionally, the court has allowed three days for parties to present arguments regarding the potential extension of this suspension to descendants of those who obtained nationality through this law. Iustitia Europa argued that the situation of these beneficiaries was not explicitly covered by previous rulings. The court decided not to suspend voting rights for the children of naturalized individuals without hearing from the parties involved, instead opting for a procedural approach. Furthermore, the court rejected extending the suspension to those living in Spain and included in the National Electoral Census.
