Layoffs have begun at the Komárom battery factory

SK On Hungary Kft. has initiated layoffs at its Komárom site, affecting both Hungarian and Ukrainian workers. The union claims the company has not communicated its future employment plans or health protection measures for employees. Layoffs also began last week at the Iváncsa battery plant, confirmed by the company. SK On Hungary stated that these decisions were necessary to align operations with current business conditions and promised support for affected workers. The company has faced significant fines recently for health and environmental violations, totaling 200 million HUF. Employee numbers have decreased from 2,700 in 2024 to 1,819 in 2025 across its facilities, which manufacture batteries for electric vehicles.
