The European Commission has approved Hungary's 5.4 billion euro defense investment plan

The European Commission approved Hungary's plan to borrow €5.4 billion from the EU's SAFE defense financing program. Originally, Hungary aimed for €16 billion but revised its request. The SAFE program offers a total of €150 billion in discounted loans for member states' defense investments. Hungary's proposal was the last to be evaluated under this program, with over €21 billion still available from the original amount. The Hungarian government will soon submit its updated plan reflecting the final loan amount.
