Rescue workers convicted of intentionally causing injury to a Roma patient

Two paramedics were sentenced for intentionally injuring a Roma patient in Lajosmizse in 2022. The driver received 1.5 years in prison, while the nurse got a suspended sentence of one year. The patient, who struggled to breathe, was mocked for his ethnicity and not properly secured in the ambulance. They drove recklessly, causing him to fall and sustain injuries. Although a subsequent emergency call was made, the patient later died. His brother criticized the leniency of the sentence and expressed dissatisfaction with the driver's apology. The court ruled that the assault did not cause the patient's death, and the family is seeking compensation.
