Specimens of a species thought to be extinct have emerged
A previously thought extinct mammal, the Bangka slow loris, has been rediscovered on Bangka Island, Indonesia, with over 90 individuals identified since 2015. Despite habitat destruction, these animals were found in various locations, highlighting their survival. Many were rescued from dangerous situations, and 86 were returned to their natural habitats. The species, known for its toxic bite, requires conservation efforts to protect remaining forests and assess population sizes. This rediscovery raises hopes for other presumed extinct species.
