Gyárfás Tamás's request for retrial was rejected
The Budapest Court of Appeals rejected Tamás Gyárfás's request for retrial regarding his conviction for inciting the murder of media entrepreneur János Fenyő. The court found that the statements provided did not meet the legal requirements for new evidence. Fenyő was murdered on February 11, 1998, in Budapest while waiting in his car. Gyárfás was sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in the crime, while the second defendant, Tamás Portik, received a life sentence.
