They lost their Michelin stars, so they attacked the Budapest restaurant with a hammer to save it
The Hungarian documentary "The Taste of Democracy" has been selected for the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival's documentary competition. Directed by Péter Akar and Ambrus Fatér, the film chronicles a radical experiment at Hungary's first two Michelin-starred restaurant, Onyx, led by owner Anna Niszkács. She aims to replace the traditional hierarchical kitchen structure with a more democratic decision-making process. However, the transition is fraught with challenges, including the loss of Michelin stars and internal conflicts among the team. The film captures five years of the restaurant's daily life, showcasing power struggles and personal dramas. It will premiere at the festival in November and will be screened for Hungarian audiences at the Budapest International Documentary Festival in January 2027.
