The surcharge amount is increasing on intercity buses, trains, and suburban trains.
Starting November 2, the penalty fee for intercity trains, HÉV, and bus services will increase from 25,000 to 30,000 HUF, according to MÁV Zrt. This fee applies in cases of unauthorized discount usage, late payments beyond three working days for trains and buses, and violations of travel conditions. In the first nine months of the year, MÁV issued penalties on HÉV services 5,300 times, generating nearly 53.5 million HUF. On trains, there were about 14,700 penalty cases, resulting in 88.5 million HUF, while buses recorded over 14,500 cases with a revenue of 97 million HUF. Common reasons for penalties include lack of tickets or passes and failure to prove eligibility for discounts.
