Czech businessman offers 30 billion for the owner of Ray-Ban
Czech businessman Michal Strnad has made a surprise €30 billion offer to acquire Delfin, the investment vehicle of the Italian Del Vecchio family, which holds significant stakes in EssilorLuxottica. The Del Vecchio family has been embroiled in internal disputes since the death of founder Leonardo in 2022. Strnad's offer aims for a majority stake of 62.5% and is valid for 30 days, but faces challenges due to family opposition. Strnad, who leads the Czechoslovak Group, seeks long-term investment opportunities and sees Delfin as a perfect fit for his strategy. His wealth is estimated at $13.7 billion, and he recently acquired a stake in Pirelli.
