Interior tourism entrepreneurs criticize policies that do not distinguish regions
The president of the Iberian Association of Interior Tourism criticizes Lisbon's policies for not recognizing regional differences. Miguel Martins emphasizes that decision-makers lack understanding of interior regions. He argues that local entrepreneurs should explain their needs to coastal policymakers. The association, formed in 2022, aims to unite over 40 tourism businesses from Portugal and Spain to promote interior territories. Martins believes the interior can address housing market issues and calls for tax incentives to boost tourism. He highlights the importance of agriculture, which he claims is neglected. A World Congress on Interior Tourism will be held in Guarda on November 18-19, featuring over 45 speakers from 18 countries.
