In Algeria, the unfinished rehabilitation of Krim Belkacem, an icon of the war of independence

A poignant ceremony took place on October 18 at El-Alia cemetery in Algiers to commemorate Krim Belkacem, a symbol of Algeria's independence struggle. Attendees included his former comrades, who shared memories despite their age. Belkacem, known as the 'lion of the djebels', was assassinated on the same date in 1970 in Frankfurt by agents sent from Algiers. The commemoration reflects the complex legacy of his contributions to Algeria's fight for freedom.
