In Bulgaria, on the shores of the Black Sea, drone attacks are making their way into the presidential campaign

Gray clouds gather over Varna Bay, Bulgaria's largest port on the Black Sea. On October 28, Mayor Blagomir Kotsev reported a drone attack on a Liberian-flagged container ship, which was struck by three maritime drones while heading towards Romania. A French patrol aircraft detected the threat and alerted Bulgarian authorities, but the attack occurred in the Exclusive Economic Zone, limiting intervention options. This incident marks the tenth cargo attack in October, with three sailors confirmed dead and 31 missing. The mayor noted rising tensions among the population due to the proximity of war impacts to European borders.
