In Jordan, a shooting in a church leaves at least six dead

On October 23, a shooting at a Greek Orthodox church in southern Jordan resulted in at least six deaths and 28 injuries. The attackers opened fire on a funeral procession in Hammoud village. Authorities are conducting a search for the assailants, and King Abdullah II vowed to impose severe penalties for the terrorist act. Witnesses reported that the shooting lasted five minutes, with many attendees present. This incident marks a rare attack on the Christian community in Jordan, where Christians make up 2-3% of the predominantly Muslim population. Previous attacks on places of worship in Jordan have been infrequent.
