Nurses warn of delays in hospital assessments

The Portuguese Nurses' Union (ASPE) expressed concern over the delayed performance evaluations at the Local Health Units (ULS) São João and Santo António, which hinder nurses' career progression and retirement. ASPE president Lúcia Leite highlighted that the evaluations for 2023/24 are incomplete, affecting nurses' rights. The situation is linked to the Career Development Accelerator from Decree-Law No. 75/2023, which aims to address career progression issues in public administration. ULS Santo António stated that evaluations for 2022/2023 are closed, and those for 2023/2024 are under review. The Independent Union of All Nurses in the Continent and Islands (SITEU) has called for a strike and demonstration regarding these issues, demanding the homologation of evaluations and payment of retroactive effects.
