Higher education: the "underfunding" remains unanswered, despite a "first step" from the government, say university presidents

France Universités acknowledges the government's measures to address the student crisis as a positive step but criticizes the ongoing chronic underfunding of universities. The organization welcomed the addition of 15,000 new higher education places and funding for building renovations but emphasized the need for a sustainable financial model for universities by 2030. They also called for firm commitments regarding the financing of health study access reforms and discussed the need for further consideration of student grant adjustments in light of inflation. Regarding the Parcoursup platform, they stressed that while reforms are necessary, it should not distract from the underlying issues in educational policy.
