Epcol sees no risk of supply disruption in Portugal
The Portuguese Oil Companies Association (Epcol) does not foresee imminent risks of fuel supply disruptions in Portugal for the upcoming winter, despite geopolitical uncertainties affecting prices. Spokesperson João Reis emphasized that Portugal's refining capacity, logistical infrastructure, imports, and strategic reserves ensure supply security. However, geopolitical instability, particularly in the Middle East, continues to create price volatility concerns. The National Entity for the Energy Sector (ENSE) has indicated a yellow risk level for the oil sector due to this instability. The European Commission also noted no physical shortage of diesel or aviation fuel in Europe but acknowledged ongoing supply pressures. Efforts are underway to increase refinery production capacity in the EU to address high fuel prices.
