‘Spain can be awesome’, the campaign that proposes creating a fund for public housing and pensions with income from renewables

A citizen initiative in Spain proposes creating a public housing and pension fund using renewable energy revenues, inspired by Norway's oil fund. The campaign, named "España puede ser la hostia," aims to encourage political parties to adopt these ideas ahead of the November elections. The fund would be financed by profits from solar and wind energy, aiming to generate over €12.5 billion annually by 2050. Half of the fund would be invested globally, while the other half would support housing policies and energy transition projects. The initiative seeks to rehabilitate nearly one million homes and build 180,000 public rental units by 2050, promoting a sustainable future and addressing current societal challenges.
