State co-finances 15% of obesity medications

The government will subsidize 15% of obesity medications for patients under a specific care plan, prescribed by endocrinologists, internists, and pediatricians. This initiative, effective from February 2027, lasts for 12 months from the first dispensation, aligning with the Integrated Care Pathway for Obesity (PCIPO). Patients must be monitored by a multidisciplinary obesity care team and have an active clinical process according to PCIPO guidelines. Renewals depend on periodic evaluations of therapeutic goals, documented by the prescribing physician. Medications will only be dispensed at community pharmacies, with Infarmed overseeing the implementation of this special regime.
