Students gather against the unfreezing of tuition fees

Over a hundred higher education students protested in Lisbon against the government's plan to increase tuition fees, which have remained unchanged since 2020. The demonstration, organized by student associations, took place in front of Culturgest, near the government headquarters. Protesters chanted slogans like "Tuition fees should end, not increase" and displayed banners criticizing the government's funding policies and targeting Prime Minister Luís Montenegro. They oppose the proposed adjustment of tuition fees in line with inflation starting from the 2027/2028 academic year.
