Students refuse unfreezing and want an end to tuition fees
Students protested against the government's proposal to unfreeze tuition fees starting in the 2027/2028 academic year, demanding free higher education. They criticized the government's financial priorities, alleging that funds are diverted to military aid instead of education. The protest, attended by around 200 students, featured chants and slogans emphasizing the right to free education and the inadequacy of current funding. The government plans to increase tuition fees by approximately 15 euros annually, which students argue will exacerbate financial burdens. They also highlighted delays in scholarship payments and a decrease in funding for higher education in the 2027 budget. A follow-up protest is scheduled for November 18.
