EU wants to learn from the migrant crisis in Ceuta and expand Frontex's powers

The European Commission proposes a rapid response force from Frontex to assist EU member states with border security within 24 hours. This force can be deployed at a member state's request for up to one month. Additionally, Frontex is to monitor social media for border security risks and member states must share relevant information with the agency. The Commission also seeks to enhance Frontex's powers regarding the return of rejected asylum seekers and assist third countries in relocating individuals without asylum. This initiative aims to prevent crises like the recent situation in Ceuta, where thousands of migrants crossed from Morocco. The proposal requires approval from member states and the European Parliament before implementation.
