EU will nationale Social-Media-Verbote stoppen
The EU Commission plans to postpone national regulations on age limits for social media, suggesting member states suspend related legislative efforts for a year. Instead of varying rules, a unified European regulation is proposed. Since last year, both the Commission and individual member states have been working on age restrictions due to mental health risks for young people. Despite a proposed uniform legal framework, countries continued to pursue different approaches. In September, the EU introduced the Kids Act to establish consistent standards, differentiating restrictions for children under 13 and teenagers under 15. However, some countries, like Greece and Denmark, are proceeding with their own bans without waiting for EU-wide regulations.
