Europe’s conservatives have 2 new targets in their campaign to weaken EU climate laws

Center-right members of the European Parliament are working to delay or weaken EU climate laws, particularly targeting methane emission regulations and a new carbon pricing scheme. The European People’s Party is advocating for a three-year postponement of methane rules, influenced by the fossil fuel industry and U.S. lobbying. Additionally, there is a push among EPP lawmakers to delay or eliminate the new carbon price for transport and heating, aligning with the interests of several EU member states like Italy and Poland.
