MEPs from KO after meeting with Ursula von der Leyen. There is a declaration regarding household appliances
Members of the Civic Coalition, Dariusz Joński and Ewa Kopacz, announced support from Ursula von der Leyen for protecting the European household appliance sector. They discussed extending the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) to include household appliances imported from outside the EU, aiming to enhance competitiveness against non-EU companies, particularly from China. Joński emphasized Poland's significant role as the second-largest producer of household appliances globally and highlighted the need for protective measures against Chinese competition. The initiative began in June with a memorandum to the European Commission, addressing the challenges faced by EU manufacturers due to rising competition and high operational costs. The European Parliament has shown majority support for these protective measures.
