Eurovision confirms candidates for 2027 — but 2 EU countries are still on the fence

Spain and Slovenia are contemplating their participation in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest after boycotting this year's event due to Israel's involvement. The European Broadcasting Union confirmed that 36 countries will participate in the contest scheduled for May in Burgas, Bulgaria. This year's boycott was unprecedented, with five nations withdrawing in response to the humanitarian crisis following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
