Evacuated from occupied Ołeszek are now in Belarus. What next for the civilians?
All four evacuation flights from the Russian-occupied Oleshkiv have arrived in Homel, Belarus. Ukrainian MP Davyd Arachamiya confirmed that the last flight landed, and evacuees, including elderly individuals, children, and pets, will soon return to Ukraine. The evacuation was facilitated by a temporary ceasefire negotiated by Russia and Ukraine, with assistance from Melania Trump. This ceasefire, effective from October 27 to November 1, allows humanitarian convoys to reach other affected areas. Oleshkiv has been under Russian occupation, with around 2,000 residents lacking food and water. Evacuees will cross back into Ukraine via the New Huta-New Jarylovychi border crossing, but must first traverse Russian territory or Crimea.
