National exports slow down in the summer, but surpass growth in foreign purchases
Portugal's exports and imports grew by 6.5% and 3.6% respectively in Q3, indicating a slowdown compared to the previous quarter. The data from INE shows that while both trade flows increased, the growth rate diminished from the previous quarter's 10.3% for exports and 8.7% for imports. Adjusting for certain transactions, the growth becomes more pronounced, with exports rising by 10.9% and imports by 7.4%. In August, exports grew by 6.8% and imports by 2.8%, following July's increases. The trade balance deficit decreased by 115 million euros year-on-year, attributed to better performance in fuel and machinery exports.
