Pharmacies begin to offer treatment with methadone

Starting Sunday, pharmacies in seven municipalities, including Albufeira and Portalegre, will offer opioid dependence treatment with methadone. This initiative, led by various health organizations, aims to improve access to treatment and support recovery. Patients can receive methadone at participating pharmacies, ensuring privacy and continuity of care. The program is part of a broader strategy to address addiction issues in Portugal, with a focus on humanized and qualified responses. The initiative is expected to expand nationwide, enhancing the capacity for monitoring and social reintegration of individuals in treatment.
