FBI: North Korea behind billion-dollar heist at crypto platform Binance

The FBI attributes the theft of over $6 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance to North Korean hackers. These hackers converted stolen bitcoins into ethereum and may continue laundering the funds. Previously, a North Korean group was linked to a $1.5 billion hack at ByBit. The FBI describes this cybercrime as "TraderTraitor," where hackers quickly distribute stolen coins across numerous addresses to obscure their trail. Following the Binance breach, the platform announced it would reimburse 90% of the stolen funds to users, with plans to cover the remaining 10%. Despite the hack causing market fluctuations, Bitcoin's decline was minimal. Experts note that many Dutch users may not trade on Binance due to its lack of regulatory approval in the Netherlands.
