The mayor of Orosháza reported his predecessor.
János Raffai, the current mayor, has filed a complaint against former mayor Zoltán Dávid for suspected abuse of office and mismanagement. The case involves a municipal service apartment occupied by a doctor who lost his medical employment in 2021. Despite this, Dávid encouraged the doctor to remain in the apartment, leading to a debt of 5.5 million HUF. The municipality is pursuing legal action to recover this debt, which arises from the higher fees applicable when the apartment is not used as a service residence. The Fidesz-KDNP faction proposed to waive the debt, citing a humanitarian gesture, but the meeting ended without a decision due to the mayor's departure. Raffai emphasized his duty to protect municipal assets and clarified that the complaint does not imply guilt, as determining any crime is the responsibility of investigative authorities.
