The Szent Imre Hospital was fined half a million for a heart attack death
The Szent Imre University Teaching Hospital was fined 500,000 forints due to inadequate care leading to the death of an 89-year-old woman. The National Public Health and Medical Officer's Service found professional shortcomings and documentation violations after a complaint was filed by the woman's son. The hospital's internal investigation claimed no negligence occurred, but the official inquiry revealed multiple lapses, including the failure to conduct an EKG, which could have diagnosed her heart attack earlier. The hospital has since implemented measures to improve patient safety and triage processes.
