Fenprof demands "transparency and adequate funding" for science
Fenprof has raised concerns about the underfunding of science in Portugal, following the recent results of a scientific project competition. They demand increased public investment and transparency in funding. Out of 4,723 evaluated projects, only 720 were recommended for funding, highlighting low approval rates of 11% to 22%. Fenprof criticizes the unequal distribution of funding, with engineering and medical sciences receiving nearly 45% of approvals, while humanities received less than 6%. They call for regular funding competitions and higher success rates.
