Bicycle crossing at Westerbegraafplaats in Ghent becomes safer, two years after fatal accident involving a bus
The Agency for Roads and Traffic is upgrading the bicycle crossing at Palinghuizen in Ghent, following a fatal accident involving a cyclist and a bus two years ago. A safety audit prompted these changes, which include widening the central islands for safer waiting areas and altering road markings to enhance visibility for drivers. This will result in the removal of two parking spaces. The work is scheduled from November 4 to 6, with traffic diversions in place for vehicles heading to Ghent city center.
