FIFA chooses the United States for the debut of the women's club World Cup
The United States will host the inaugural Women's Club World Cup from January 5 to 30, 2028, as announced by FIFA. The tournament will feature 19 teams from six continental confederations, with seven clubs already qualified, including Arsenal and FC Barcelona. FIFA's decision is based on the U.S.'s experience in hosting major events and its strong women's football infrastructure. Additionally, FIFA plans to increase financial resources for the 2027 Women's World Cup participants, with each association receiving $2.5 million. The financial model will be discussed in December 2026, and changes to the Women's Champions League schedule were also announced, with semifinals set for Miami in January 2027.
