It will be harder for the tax authorities to scrutinize invoices. The Sejm restricts the powers of officials

On October 22, the Polish Sejm passed amendments to the laws governing the National Revenue Administration and banking law, limiting the tax authority's ability to check taxpayers' accounts without prior charges. Previously, tax officials could request bank account information during preliminary investigations, but the new law requires a court's consent for such requests. The amendments clarify that banks must provide information only about 'suspects' rather than 'individuals' and establish that tax officials can only access bank secrecy information with a court order. The law will take effect 14 days after its announcement and will proceed to the Senate for further consideration.
