Macau Forum. E-commerce can boost Lusophone sales to China
The Secretary-General of the Macau Forum, Ji Xianzheng, emphasized that e-commerce can enhance sales of Portuguese-speaking countries in China. Exports from these countries to China have seen a record increase of 22.1% this year, reaching $105.8 billion. Ji encouraged these nations to leverage internet technologies to overcome physical barriers. During a recent e-commerce colloquium in Macau, Brazilian analyst Renato Borges Ferreira Tomé noted that China has been Brazil's main trading partner since 2015 and highlighted the need to diversify exports beyond commodities. The next Ministerial Conference of the Macau Forum is scheduled for 2027, focusing on economic cooperation among Portuguese-speaking countries.
