France investigates police actions during protests. Two young people suffered serious injuries

The French police inspection IGPN has initiated six investigations into police actions during recent protests, with serious injuries reported among demonstrators. One investigation focuses on an incident in Mulhouse where a 17-year-old girl lost an eye, while another involves a police grenade that injured a 17-year-old boy in Saint-Etienne. Additionally, IGPN is looking into 36 cases related to police actions during student protests advocating for educational improvements. IGPN only addresses cases involving police, who typically deploy CRS units during protests. France also has a separate gendarmerie with its own inspection.
