French economy flirts with recession as GDP unexpectedly falls in third quarter
France's GDP fell by 0.1% in Q3, contrary to expectations of growth, as inflation rises. Economy Minister Roland Lescure acknowledged the stagnation but insisted a crisis is not imminent, warning of potential economic collapse without fiscal consolidation. This marks the second negative growth this year, following a 0.2% decline in Q1 and stagnation in Q2. Although France is not in a technical recession yet, slight revisions could change that status. Revised GDP figures are expected at the end of November.
