Fuel protest spreads to fishing sector, vessels remain docked in many Adriatic ports
Protests against rising gas prices have expanded from transport to the fishing sector in Italy, leading to many vessels remaining docked. Sirens are sounding in various ports as fishermen express their discontent over high fuel costs and restrictive European fishing policies. This mobilization began in the Upper Adriatic and underscores a crisis threatening the sector's economic viability. Confcooperative Agroalimentare e Pesca has reported on the situation in several regions and is urging for emergency measures to be addressed in the Council of Ministers meeting. Fuel costs are a significant concern, sometimes exceeding 60% of operational expenses.
