Gaia creates municipal housing company with PS reserves
The creation of the municipal housing company in Gaia, proposed as Habigaia, was approved by the city council, with the PS party abstaining due to concerns about its viability. The PS expressed doubts about the necessity of establishing a new entity instead of enhancing the existing Gaiurb's capabilities. The new company aims to manage social housing and affordable rent, addressing the growing demands in the housing sector. It will have a capital of one million euros and will transfer 74 employees from Gaiurb. A feasibility study indicates that while the company is economically viable, it will require municipal funding to operate effectively.
