Galp and Moeve. "It wasn't because of us" that the agreement failed

The Portuguese government is monitoring Galp's search for partners for its Sines refinery, clarifying that the failed deal with Moeve was not due to government intervention. Environment and Energy Minister Maria da Graça Carvalho emphasized that the government has legal means to intervene if necessary, especially regarding foreign investments. She reassured that national sovereignty would not be compromised, and any European partner would require negotiations. The government is open to increasing its stake in Galp, although Carvalho refrained from elaborating due to the company's public status. Despite the setback with Moeve, Galp remains committed to finding a partner for the refinery, viewing it as a rational strategy.
