Gas price rises to highest level since 2022
The ongoing violence in the Middle East is driving up gas prices, similar to crude oil. Qatar, a major LNG exporter, has seen its exports drop significantly due to the conflict. In September, Qatar exported only 1.6 million tons of LNG, a sharp decline from pre-war levels. Energy contracts have also surged, with one-year contracts now costing households over €2,700 annually, a rise of €1,100 in ten months. The Dutch gas storage is currently 66% full, lower than last year's 73%, reflecting a broader trend across Europe.
