One of Gauguin's most important works was unpacked at the Museum of Fine Arts

The Szépművészeti Múzeum is preparing for an exhibition featuring Paul Gauguin's works, opening on October 30. A significant piece, "Portrait of a Young Girl – Vaïte (Jeanne) Goupil," was recently unpacked from the Museum Ordrupgaard. The exhibition will showcase 150 artworks, including 80 by Gauguin, alongside pieces from his predecessors and contemporaries. Gauguin's return to Tahiti in 1895 influenced his artistic direction, leading to a unique style that emphasized color and symbolism. The portrait, painted in 1896, depicts Jeanne Goupil, a girl from a French family in Tahiti, and exemplifies Gauguin's innovative approach to portraiture.
