Where was Jesus really baptized? An archaeologist pointed out the exact location
The baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River has long been debated regarding its exact location. Recent archaeological findings by Mohammad Waheeb suggest it occurred on the eastern bank, near ancient Bethany. His six-year excavation revealed early Christian churches and baptismal pools, indicating this area was a significant Christian site. Historical accounts from early pilgrims, including a 333 AD description by an anonymous pilgrim, support this claim. Additionally, a sixth-century mosaic map distinguishes between two locations named Bethany and Bethabara on opposite riverbanks, which may have led to historical confusion.
