Involuntary admission for psychiatric patient with drug problems wandering in Sint-Truiden

A man with drug problems, previously homeless in Sint-Truiden, has been admitted to a closed facility after causing disturbances. Mayor Ludwig Vandenhove expressed frustration over the situation, criticizing the care institution Myna for not preventing his release. Myna stated that patients not mandated for treatment can leave voluntarily. Following police intervention for drug possession, the man was re-admitted under protective observation. Vandenhove acknowledged the negative perception of Myna's staff and emphasized their important work. A meeting between Myna and justice officials is planned to address concerns, and a letter has been sent to government ministers regarding the challenges faced by individuals who fall through the cracks of the system.
