No more pumping ban in West Flanders, except in 4 vulnerable spots
The pumping ban in West Flanders is largely lifted due to recent rainfall, but remains in effect at four vulnerable locations. Governor Koen Surdiacourt noted that average rainfall in October reached about 40 mm, with more expected. While the situation has improved, the demand for pumping is anticipated to decrease. The ban continues at the Blankaartbekken, Rivierbeek, Martjesvaart, and Handzamevaart due to insufficient recovery. Water quality monitoring will persist, and further discussions on drought are scheduled for October 28.
