General Staff: Russia has lost 1,572,790 troops in Ukraine since Feb. 24, 2022

Since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, Russia has reportedly lost over 1.5 million troops in Ukraine, according to Ukraine's General Staff. This figure includes 2,250 casualties in just one day. Additionally, Russia has lost significant military equipment, including over 12,000 tanks and 25,000 armored vehicles. Independent assessments suggest that Russian casualties are much higher than Ukraine's, with estimates indicating a ratio of approximately 2.5:1. While Ukraine's losses remain undisclosed, President Zelensky mentioned at least 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed in action, with many more missing. The ongoing conflict complicates the retrieval of fallen soldiers' bodies for identification purposes.
